What Not to Do After Embroidery: The Top 5 Mistakes That Ruin Results
Semi-permanent makeup is a game changer—but the healing process is where the real magic happens. If you’ve just had embroidery done (brows, lips, eyeliner), the next 7–10 days are crucial.
At The Brow & Beauty Boutique, we give every client a detailed aftercare guide. But just in case, here are 5 major mistakes you must avoid to keep your results clean, even, and long-lasting.
1. Touching or Picking at the Area
Flaking or scabbing is totally normal—but don’t pick. Picking can pull out pigment, cause patchiness, and even lead to scarring.
If the area itches, gently tap it. If it flakes, let it fall off naturally.
2. Sweating Heavily or Going Into Saunas
Sweat, heat, and steam open your pores and push pigment out of the skin before it sets. This leads to faster fading or uneven colour.
Avoid:
Intense workouts
Saunas and steam rooms
Hot yoga and hot showers (keep them short and cool)
3. Applying Skincare or Makeup Directly on the Area
No foundation. No sunscreen. No concealer. And definitely no serums or oils.
Keep the area bare and clean while healing. Products can clog, irritate, or fade the pigment—especially in the first week.
4. Getting the Area Wet
Avoid soaking the area. Light misting is fine, but don’t:
Splash water on your face
Go swimming
Stand under the shower stream
Clean the rest of your face with a cloth. We’ll guide you on how to wash gently and correctly during healing.
5. Forgetting Your Touch-Up Appointment
This isn’t a one-and-done. Your follow-up session locks in your pigment and corrects any fade spots. Skipping it can shorten the lifespan of your results.
