What to Expect in the First Week After Lip Colour Removal

You’ve taken the first step. You’ve had your lip colour removal treatment—and now you’re wondering what’s next. Will there be swelling? Will your lips peel? When will you start seeing results?

At The Brow & Beauty Boutique, we guide first-time clients through the recovery process step by step. Here’s what your first 7 days will typically look like—and how to care for your lips so they heal beautifully and last.

Day-by-Day: What Happens After Your Treatment?

Everyone’s healing journey is a little different, but most clients experience the following timeline:

Day 1: Slight Swelling or Tightness

Your lips may feel a bit tender or puffy, especially around the edges. This is a natural response and usually fades within 24 hours. Avoid spicy food and heat.

Day 2–3: Subtle Darkening or Dryness

Pigment may look slightly darker or more uneven at this stage. Don’t worry—this is not your final result. It’s your lips starting to adjust and push out old pigment.

Day 4–5: Light Peeling or Flaking

Mild peeling may occur as the top layer sheds. Avoid touching or picking. Let the pigment release gently on its own to avoid uneven results.

Day 6–7: Tone Begins to Settle

Your lips start to feel more balanced, soft, and even. Final colour results will continue to reveal themselves over the next few weeks.

💡 Want to Learn More About the Treatments?

If you're planning for your first visit—or just thinking ahead to your next step—here are the three core services we offer:

  • Lip Colour Removal: Gently fades dark, grey, or uneven pigment using a non-laser method that’s beginner-safe and non-invasive.

  • Lip Embroidery Enhancement: Ideal for balancing tone and shape once pigment has been corrected. It adds natural structure and softness.

  • Lip Blush: A finishing touch for those who want long-lasting, rosy lips after tone correction. It looks like a soft tint—no lipstick needed.

Not sure which one is right for you? We’ll help you choose when the time is right.

What You Should Do and Avoid in Week One

Do:

  • Apply aftercare balm 2–3 times a day (we’ll provide or recommend one)

  • Stay well-hydrated

  • Pat lips dry gently after eating or drinking

  • Sleep slightly elevated on Day 1 to reduce swelling

🚫 Don’t:

  • Pick, peel, or scrub your lips

  • Use any lip products with tint or gloss

  • Eat oily, spicy, or overly salty foods in the first 48 hours

  • Expose lips to direct sunlight without SPF balm

These small habits will make a big difference in healing and help your results last longer.
